Recreation Excellence is proud to operate the Centennial Outdoor Pool on behalf of the City of Abbotsford:

The current national Lifeguard and Swim Instructor shortage is affecting pools in and around our region and the situation is dire. Many facilities remain closed, or are offering reduced scheduling or limited capacity. Centennial Outdoor Pool hours of operation and programs will be impacted by the lack of availability.

We are working hard to recruit, train and schedule as many lifeguards and instructors as possible. Our community needs your help. If you are or were a lifeguard/swim instructor, we need you! Please contact us at

Public and lane swim pool times will be published here on the website once the schedule for that week is confirmed.

Lesson registration will be dependent on the availability of certified swimming instructors.

Lessons will be offered Monday through Thursday mornings on the following dates:

  • Session 1 – July 4-7 & 11-15, 2022
  • Session 2 – July 18-21 & 25-29, 2022
  • Session 3 – August 8-11 & 15-18, 2022
  • Session 4 – August 22-25 & Aug 29-Sept 1, 2022

Registration is likely to begin in June, once the staffing schedule is finalized.
