Customer Service Representative (Permanent Full Time)

Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool) beginning in October 2015. Our search for staff includes the following position right now: Customer Service Representative

Reporting to the Administration Manager & Supervisor / Facility Managers and working with other CSRs, this employee is responsible for the delivery of customer service at the reception and data entry/administration related to Payroll and hiring in an Aquatic and Fitness centre. Recreation Excellence’s emphasis is on the provision of safe yet dynamic aquatic programs and services and outstanding customer service provided in a clean and welcoming facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities could include, but not limited to:

  • Professional well-groomed appearance
    • Maintain hygiene, dress code & attire provided by Rec Ex, at all times
  • Provide excellent Customer Service including answering telephones and dealing with customers in person while determining the nature and purpose of their call or visit
  • Cash handling duties including accurately balancing cash at the end of the shift
  • Selling of passes, registering for lessons and courses
  • Provide information about the facilities, such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided
  • Operate office equipment
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including the 7 Unifying Principles, The 4 Core values
  • Janitorial duties
  • Ensure that all work performed is in accordance with safety standards set forth by the Government of British Columbia
  • Attend all staff in-service training opportunities in order to maintain relevant skills
  • Work effectively and maintain harmonious relationships with the Management, co-workers, staff, patrons, clients and elected officials
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Other duties as required from time to time by Recreation Excellence

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of:

  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment, accurate keyboarding skills and knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office
  • Cash management operations and record keeping
  • Public relations/negotiation techniques
  • Customer service standards and procedures
  • CLASS software experience
  • PerfectMind software experience would be an asset

Ability to:

  • React quickly, calmly, and effectively in emergency situations
  • Handle sensitive and delicate public relations situations with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Work under pressure handling problems, tasks, and changing priorities which come up simultaneously and/or unexpectedly
  • Keep a high level of information confidential
  • Maintain information files and provide information to Administration, co-workers and outside organizations or citizens
  • Enter data correctly and accurately
  • Communicate orally in the English language in a one-on-one or group setting
  • Produce written documents in the English language using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar
  • Review documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Work independently within the established policies and procedures
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions

Education, Qualifications, Licenses and Certificates

  • WHMIS
  • Customer Service Training
  • Current “Standard First Aid” Certificate including CPR C, AED

Hours of work

  • 10-40hrs per week
  • Must include at least 1 weekend shift/1 evening shift

Wage: $15.20/hr starting

The successful candidate will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work and must maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
