Lifeguard & Swim Instructor (Permanent Full Time)
Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool) beginning in October 2015. We are in search of honest, hard-working, enthusiastic staff who are “Serious about Fun!”
Our search for staff includes the following position right now:
Position: Lifeguard & Swim Instructor
Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Aquatic Manager and Aquatic Lead team, Lifeguards & Swim instructors will be responsible for ensuring that our patrons have a safe, enjoyable, and FUN swimming experience while at our facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Must be a minimum of 16yrs of age
- Model behaviour outlined in the Company’s 7 Unifying Principles – Unconditional Respect, Unconditional Trustworthiness, Teamwork, Open, Forthright Communication, Perpetual Growth, Reverence for the Client & Company and Humour & Goodwill.
- Have an excellent sense of humour to ensure that your workplace is exciting and fun!
- Ensure client safety and enforce pool rules while remaining alert and professional
- Deliver high quality, aquatic programs such as swimming lessons and special events
- Prevent and respond to emergencies
- Perform routine water tests
- Provide excellent customer service
- Work as part of a team and can follow directions and work with minimal supervision
- Must be motivated and adaptive
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
Required Education and Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12
- National Lifeguard – Pool Option
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
- Standard First Aid and CPR “C “with AED
- Good communication and public relation skills, with the ability to use tact and courtesy in dealing with patrons
- Available to work evenings and weekends
The following would be an asset:
- Lifesaving Instructor Certification
- First Aid Instructor Certification
- Aqua-Fit Instructor Certification
- Occupational First Aid Level 1
Wage: $15.30 Lifeguard or $15.55 if you hold both a National Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certification.
The successful candidate will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work and must maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
